Scope of Application

Strength Classes and Leakage Rate Limits for Rectangular Cross-section Metal Air Ducts (Galvanized, Stainless Steel, Aluminum Ducts, etc.)

Core Technical Requirements

Strength Class: Seal the air duct, apply the specified pressure (positive or negative), maintain for 60 seconds, and observe for cracking or excessive deformation.

Class

Positive Pressure (Pa)

Negative Pressure
(Pa)

Application Scenario

Medium-pressure Systems
(Industrial Factories)

C

High-pressure or Special Demand Systems

Special Class:
Class D is only for special equipment and needs to meet higher pressure or special environmental requirements.

Application Scenario

L1

≤0.027

High-airtightness Systems(e.g. Hospitals,Laboratories)

L2

≤0.09

General Ventilation Systems

L3

≤0.27

Industrial Ventilation or Non-critical Areas

Remarks

‌General ventilation systems (e.g., office buildings, hotels): EN 12237-Class A or EN 1507-Class A is usually selected.

Smoke and fire control systems: EN 12237-Class C or EN 1507-Class C is mandatory to ensure structural stability during fires.

Industrial environments (e.g., chemical plants): Class B or C should be selected according to pressure requirements, paired with low leakage rates (L1/L2).
